Is it possible to have a genital herpes outbreak several months after first exposure?

I took an STD test three months ago and it showed that I had genital herpes. I have never had an oubreak but I discovered some red little bumps on the tip of my penis a few days ago and have had itchiness also. I haven't gone to the doctor yet so it could be something other than a herpes outbreak but probably not. Is that even possible that a first outbreak would appear three months after exposure to the virus. And does having the virus mean that I'm more prone to getting sick in general?

Yes and it will always come back when your immunity level is low. Do something about it and heal your self. It is possible.

Im afraid herpes can lay doormat for years. youre lucky a test showed up you had it because it usually cant be diagnosed unless you have a "show" Thats is why its hard to diagnose who gave you the herpes virus because it can lay hidden- a sudden illness could cause it to flare up because your immune system is low.
The doctor will prescribe you with something to keep the herpes under control

It is most definately an outbreak of herpes...you will find you will get these outbreaks from time to time, unfortunately!Taking medication at the first signs of an outbreak will help reduce the length and severity of symptoms. No just because you have the virus, it does not mean you are more vunerable to getting sick than usual.
