Genital herpes: do you take acyclovir as directed?

so ive heard that people taking valtrex for a outbreak only take enough so the outbreak goes away. so im taking acyclovir 400 mg for 5 days.. today is my third day taking it 3 times a day althought i took it only 2 times yesterday and the day b4 because i forgot.. so it seems the outbreak is going away.. should i keep taking it or keep the rest of the pills for another outbreak.. also what if i have protected sex tomorrow? do u think the risk of me spreading it is great?

i am taking the same meds although i never had an outbreak i have type one (who knows where since i never had an outbreak) i am with a partner that does not have it and asked if i would take the meds as a precaution , my dr agrees and has me on 400mg 2 times a day .. i will tell u that i usually only take one a day sometimes 2 when i remember . was diagnosed with herpes type one 8 months ago and have never had any issues this far .. although its still new they claim the first year is the worst.. i find it easier to take it with my daily vitamins. if u dont take daily vits. now is a good time to start since it will help u stay heathyer

i take Valtrex at the very beging of my out break symptoms then i stop taking it when the out break is gone. this is only because i think my doctor is worried about me building up some resistance to Valtrex in the future.
continue taking your medication as directed specially if u plan on having sex the next day. acylovir does the same thing as Valtrex. it suppresses the virus and makes u less able to pass herpes on to a new partner. talk to your doctor if u are unsure about how to take the meds.
