For women with history of genital herpes, do you get prodromes or swelling after shaving down there?

I dont know whats going on but in the last month or so, everytime i shave (where the sun dont shine), ive been getting swelling in the same spot (prodrome). In the five years ive had the virus, ive never had this problem before. Im nine months pregnant and am wondering if this is c ontributing to it? Ive been on valtrex for the past three weeks too for daily suppression therapy for the last month of my pregnancy. The first few times it went away after a day or two. I tried shaving again a week later and same thing happened. This time i waited about two weeks and finally i couldnt take it anymore and shaved yesterday b/c i want to make sure the professionals can check me good down there when i go into labour and sure enough, it became swollen again. Im kicking myself for this now b/c the baby can come any day now but my due date is July 28th and we are July 16th. Im not going to shave anymore now and am praying that these prodomes go away before my water breaks or will have csecti

I really think you should ask your doc this or go to a herpes forum...people here can be a little harsh especially for a personal question like this.

sorry for being ignorant but what are prodomes?

Are you using a dull razor? I hear down there can get a little swollen when pregnant especially later on, so it may not even be an outbreak.
Run this by your doctor. I used to think shaving encouraged outbreaks, but I shave often and usually am not effected.

you may want to have a c-section just to be on the safe side though.
