Do you have to take medicine to get rid of an genital herpes outbreak?

I think i had an outbreak even though i didnt see anything but i had itching as if it was an outbreak and now its gone or is it? do they go away on their own or is medication absolutely needed?? i want to know before i go and get the medication for no reason

yes i have herpes.. i took valtrex and once i got off its like i got an outbreak.. im not sure if its an outbreak bc its just an itchy feeling and there is nothing there n its not like the other 2 i had b4 n now its like the itching has went away so i dont know

first of all u should find out if u actually hav herpes by getting a blood test done for herpes.
if u do actually do have herpes then once u feel symptoms starting then take Valtrex imediatly. then take it for the duration of the out break or until its completely gone. some doctors will say to take it every day but there is really no reason to, since u are LESS contagious when u don't have out breaks. check and see if the out break is gone, take a feel "down there" or look once in a while and if anything hurts or if there are still sores then keep taking Valtrex. i have herpes and this works for me. but your doctor should tell u how and when to take the medication.
out breaks will eventually go away on their own but Valtrex helps heal them faster and with less pain. if u take it every day it helps to suppress the virus and makes it less possible for u to pass herpes on.
if u don't have herpes then u don't need take Valtrex but u do need to find out what this is.

If you haven't been tested for herpes, you need to do so. Herpes will go away on it's own, but taking an anti-viral will do wonders to keep further outbreaks at bay, trust me.

First you have to make sure the kind of infection you have visit your doctor there are many medications to treat outbreaks like acyclovir, valtrex, zovirax famvir it all depends on your infection
