Is genital herpes painful or does it just itch?

is herpes painful or does is JUST itch? or could it be either one is a symptom?

Herpes can be asymptomatic (no symptoms) or mild to sever. Some people mistake it for razor burn, pimples, ingrown hair or a red rash. Or it could be more sever with blistering and burning in the genital area and around the rectum. You can also have tingling in these areas at the time of an outbreak.

The very first outbreak last for a week or two and is incredibly painful. It burns, throbs, itches, pus-es, it's really awful.

After the initial episode, they can happen every month, couple months, or not for years. Usually, they're just really itchy and last a few days.

It sucks.

genital herpes involves formation of a blister, which itches, then the blister breaks, and it hurts or stings.
