Can genital herpes be cured?

I just realized I have genital herpes because of an outbreak on the head of my penis, along with an itching and burning sensation. If I go to the doctor or a health clinic and get meds, can my genital herpes be fully cured and disappear out of my system? Also, can I sue the girl who gave me herpes?

I didn't know she had herpes or anything that could give me herpes. I'm only 14 so I'm really ticked off about this. I'm going to tell my mom in about 10 minutes that I think I have an std so we can get it checked out and get me on meds. continue answering, guys.

There is no cure, but you can take Valtrex to help prevent outbreaks.

It can't be cured. Outbreaks can be controlled and lessened, but it is a dormant virus that has cyclical reoccurrence. Yes you can sue, although from reports it seems awfully hard to win cases. There is no cure for herpes. The best you can do is prevent and try to minimize outbreaks. You're very young. You have a responsibility to inform possible partners in the future of your affliction. I hope you do. I know so many people who have it, know they have it, and still sleep around without telling anyone becuase either they never have symptoms or they're not having symptoms at the time.

man that sucks. herpes is a life long virus. there is stuff you can take to reduce outbreaks but the virus is still there. at least its not HIV man.
