HELP! Can Genital Herpes Affect Woman's Period?

I normally get my period right on the 28 day mark, which was 2 days ago. A week ago, I began my first genital herpes outbreak, which was really bad, with sores all around my vagina, anus, and even some inside. I've been on 600 mg of ibuprofen every 4-5 hours.

Could any of these factors affect my period? Would this outbreak be considered enough stress to delay it?

Thanks in advance!

I have had genital herpes for about a year now and i remember my period coming a couple days late also (probably from all of the stress). I know exactly what your going through my first genital herpes outbreak was horrible!! the doctor said it was the worse case she has ever seen as she has been working in that office for over 45 years soo yeah to hear that was a little scary. You shouldent be taking 600 mg of ibuprofen every 4-5 hours though i know for a fact that's not healthy. If your still going through an outbreak here are some tips i figured out by my doctor. I know it must be extreamly painful when you urinate so i know it sounds nasty but you should try to pee in a tub of water (that way the acid from you urine wont get on your open sores) or even standing up when your in the shower helps sooo much. You should go to you doctor and start taking valtrex or acyclovir, it will help heal your current outbreak and supress you from getting another one. I have been on it for about a year now and never had one since. Once you get it though continue taking it. I stoped after 3 months because i wasent getting any outbreaks soo i figured i was good. 2 weeks later i found out i got herpes simplex keratitis (optical herpes). I can never wear contact again and i might need a cornea transplant if i continue getting the outbreaks in my eyes. This is a very scary and painful virus, i hope this information helps. But now since its been over a week since your missed period you might want to take a pregnancy test (hopefully your not that would just be too much stress on you)..good luck and i hope everything gets better for youu

It is possible for your period to be inconsistent now because of medication. Here is an example:

Patients with frequent outbreaks (greater than six to eight per year) may benefit from long term use of acyclovir which is called "suppressive therapy." Patients on suppressive therapy have longer periods between herpes outbreaks.

I hope this gives you some needed information.
