I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes. its pretty much cleared up from the first outbreak. ?

I scratched my skin on my stomach and was shocked to see the scratch marks turn very red and on one area it almost looks like there are sores there or some kind of rash. Did I spread the herpes to my skin on my stomach? or is it something totally different. is it possible to spread herpes this way or is it only spread to the mouth, genitals and eyes?

You can spread herpes to yourself & others almost anywhere!

Herpes prefers "wet areas" of the body - like genitals, mouth, eyes, nose but there are occurances where it attached to other parts of the body...so be aware of that - usually it attaches if there's an open sore (or scratches)
Most of the time when this happens, it's near a genital area - like someone's thigh for example...somewhere that had contact not just for a brief second..but had rubbing & rubbing like sex

Just clean the area with hydrogen peroxide & hope for the best...the body has an immune blocker that helps your body fight off re-infecting yourself like this - but there are freak times when it's happened

I seriously do not believe it's possible to spread it to other body parts other than your genitals, upper upper thigh area around the genitals and mouth and eyes. I always wash my hands after messing around down there (I have genital herpes too) just to be on the safe side, but I am pretty sure you are ok. I think you are just being a little paranoid. Also if you are on meds, it could just be a rash or reaction from the meds. The firist meds I was on kept me in pain until I switched to Valtrex.

as far as i know, mouth genital and eyes = only regions it could be spread to.
i wouldn't worry too much.
try not to think about it, give it a few days, if you're still worried call the dr.

Why are you asking yahoo answers this question? Talk to your doctor or something. Weirdo.
