Can the doctor miss genital herpes?

I've been to the dr before when I saw a little red bump on my genital area but she said it was just a mole! But this one red dot appears for several days then disappears about maybe once every 6 months & in different areas, I've been again for them to test me for all std/hiv related things & they come back negative! So what is my red bump from? I have not had sex in 10 years so I have no idea what it could be! HELP!

It can be miss diagnosed if your doctor just did a visual exam with out taking a swab to the mole. Also herpes is not related to hiv or other stds. It's also possible that isn't not herpes, but herpes can lie dormant for long periods of time months even years, even after contracting it. But after 10 years you would think that you would have enough antibodies for a herpes test to turn up positive.
Some people just have bumps down there that are not stds. They can be from razor burn, boils. pimples, pearly papules, or in grown hairs.

you know...seriously. People get bumps. If you had herpes, you would KNOW you had herpes. Herpes hurts. If it's dormant, you would have still had an active period where you would have got to know exactly what it's like to have an open, oozing sore in the wrong spot on your body. It hits things and hurts, it rubs things and hurts. It swells up and hurts. And...yeah. It's not herpes.

Instead of asking your dr about stds, go to a dermatologist and ask about skin conditions.

no idea , but you can ask ask the people on stdslove.com, it's useful. the site is for people with STDs find support,

friendship, info and even love.
