What happens to the body when someone with genital herpes has a break out?

I have genital herpes and the only thing that happens is that I develop pimples on my penis, but I don't feel sick or get any other reaction that I am aware of.
Usually, the skin gets blisters in what ever area it came in contact with to get herpes. For example, you can have it on your mouth for (a reason I won't post because there might be kids here >.>) numerous reasons.

Also, if you're just talking about what happens, the area will have pimple-like bumps that pop. That's what usually spreads it, as well. Other things may happen in that area, or they can get sick while having the breakout.
