Genital Herpes question?

I have herpes and the past two outbreaks i have had have been during my period. why is that?

.Although it is not known exactly why the virus reactivates at various times, causal factors can be separated into the physical and the psychological. Some people do not experience symptomatic recurrences but for those who do,Genital herpes recurrences are usually shorter and less severe than the initial episode. As with the initial Herpes episode, there is a large variation in people's experiences of Genital Herpes recurrences. Approximately 80% of persons having a first episode caused by HSV-2 will have at least one recurrence, while only 50% of persons with HSV-1 will experience a recurrence. The most common scenario is occasional recurrences (about 4 attacks per year). However, a minority will more suffer frequent recurrences. herpes tends to show up when you have additional stress in your life... period, work stress, relationship stress... so it is common to show up at these times more than others. This is stop with more frequent exercise and a better diet because if you become healthier you will be better able to handle stress, especially the common stress of menstruation
You should consult your MD re: daily treatment for Herpes to reduce the chance of any outbreaks. Remember, having herpes make you more susceptable to other STDs and HIV so be especially carefull.
when i have my outbreaks its usually around the time of my period...hormone changes can cause it and if youre stressed out that is a contributing factor in most herpes breakouts...im a nurse practioner at planned parent hood and have answered this question many times...hope it helps and if anything talk to your doctor about getting on daily treatment with valtrex to minimize your outbreaks and try not to stress to much..take care!
