If i have genital herpes, and i get a cold sore on my lip, should i get an outbreak for genital herpes too? |
I dont think i have genital herpes, but if i did, should i break out when i have a cold sore? I know they are caused from stress, and things like that, so is that what happens with genital herpes also? The virus that causes cold sores (HSV-1) is not usually the same herpes virus that causes the STD (HSV-2), but it can be. HSV-1 infection of the genitals can be caused by oral-genital or genital-genital contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection. And, to answer your question, yes, stress can bring on an outbreak of genital herpes (if you already have the virus), as it weakens the immune system. Fatigue, lack of sleep, menstruation, and genital friction (new sexual partner after a time of no sex) can also cause a recurrence. Source(s): http://www.cdc.gov/std/herpes/stdfact-he... not necessary because there are two different types of herpes, genital is called type 2, the one causing cold sore is called type 1. They're not related. |
