Genital Herpes.....Lots of questions.? |
I have herpes and I am with someone now. I have told him I have it and we want to do more research to prevent him from getting it. I don't need any smart *** answers here so shut up if you have nothing helpful to say. I have not had an outbreak since finding out I have it. But should I go ahead and consider taking meds to prevent shedding? Also how does this affect oral sex? Im sure it could be spread orally but how can you prevent that as well?? I am not finding a lot of info on the web about all this. My doctor is a jerk and called me at work to tell me that I had come in contact with it at some point in my life. What a jerk. Please give me some insight! Thanks!! How great you have not had an outbreak! As I am sure you already know, just because you have not had an outbreak you can still spread the virus to your partner. Since you don't know when you are shedding, it is hard for you to know when you should avoid sex. Using a condom and taking a daily meds can reduce the chance of spreading it to him to as little as 1% As for oral. It depends on what type you have. Chances of spreading type 2 to him orally is pretty slim. If you have type 1, then chances are much higher. Has he been tested? It is possible that he may already have at least one type already. If you are both type 1, then there is almost no risk at all. As for your dr, BTDT. It seems more common than not that drs do not know how to deal with herpes. Since it is little more than a minor skin condition, most drs do not bother keeping updated on latest develoments in research. It is important for you to do your own reasearch, so you can be sure you are getting the best care for your situation. Good luck with the new guy! Always use condoms during vaginal and oral sex and continue taking your meds even if you don麓t have outbreaks. I don麓t think shedding can be prevented, that麓s why Herpes is so easy to spread especially when there are no symptoms but you continue shedding the virus in your pubic area. http://www.cdc.gov/std/herpes/stdfact-he... http://www.webmd.com/genital-herpes/tc/g... 1st, there are over 80 known varieties of herpes, and countless unknown, so it is a big club. It is good that you haven't had an outbreak, now to keep it that way, daily, take 1 neem bark or leaf capsule, 1 turmeric capsule and 1 milk thistle. With in 3 months, most people will have shed the virus. Neem works on the lipid coating of the virus and that keeps it from being able to reproduce. :-) east indian medicine You are lucky that you don't have frequent outbreaks. I am in the same situation. I have had the disease for of 15 years. I have never passed it on to any one as far as I know. I am always careful. My doctor told me that since my outbreaks as so infrequent it is not worth taking a daily does of medicine. They say that is does cut down on the spread by taking the med. I prefer not to take medicine unless absolutely necessary. Good luck I have HSV2. I do not know exactly how i contracted but I think i got it from my ex. When i spoke to him about it, he said he got it from me because it was the first time after dating with me that he got sores. I never had HSV1 and when we were dating, he had HSV1 outbreak. He also had several gfs before me. I only had one before him and never experienced such pain and sore until i had unprotected sex with my ex. It was so painful and itchy. First, i didn't know. I had no knowledge about HSV 1 or 2 or zoster or anything like that. I shaved hair once and i had a cut because of it and i thought it was the cut wound. But really painful and when the blisters broke, it was so painful that i couldn't walk normally. after the primary infection, it didn't come back for several months so that i wasn't paying much attention to know what that was. but when it recurrent, i also thought it was just nothing. My college speech classmate did informative speech about Herpes Simplex virus 1 and 2 and that's when i started getting attention on myself of this. When it outbroke, i went to the doctor and she said "no, it's not herpes because the blisters were broken and only open wound left there." i was worried but after she said no, i kind of feel relieving. In 2004, i had an outbreak and i was in Michigan at that time. I wanted to make sure again whether it is Genital Herpes or not, so, the doctor checked it again and he said yes, it is herpes but if you want to make sure, get tested. So, i had blood tests and confirmed i have both HSV1 and 2 but 1 never appears until now. I was really devastated but i have to live with it. Since 2004, i started taking valtrex500mg once a day. but when i went back to NY, my ob/gyn said do not take it for a long time. Just take vitamins everyday because these antivirals aren't good for your kidneys and livers. So, i only take it when it outbreaks, 3000mg per day. 2 of 500mg, 3 times a day. and in 2 days it's healed. Now i am married and pregnant. 33 weeks now. 1week ago, i had outbreak again after long time without having outbreak. it was the worst after the primary infection and doc said i had 4-5 ulcers. So, he prescribed me Acyclovir and i am taking it now. I feel very depressed when i have outbreak. I feel guilty, furious and do not want to have it if it is possible but i know it's very much impossible and i have to live with it for the rest of my life. I had no knowlege, i was dumb and didn't use condom. But Herpes can be spread by using condoms where condom can't reached to cover the skin. Thank god that i have a husband who understands me a lot. I sometimes feel sad because i may give him this disease. He didn't have but i am not sure if he has it now or not. I told him that he will have it sometimes in his lifetime if we are still together. He said it's okay. Now, i have to worry about not passing this to my infant when i give birth and my husband. It's not easy to think and i am very stress out. Herpes is caused by virus and can't be cured. Only can be treated by antiviral medications which reduce the outbreak frequency and duration of outbreak. Even there is no lesion, the virus can be active on the surface of the skin. The early warning symptoms and the symptoms are burning, itching and tingling. So, when you have those mild early warning symptoms, you should avoid skin to skin contact with those areas. No matter how you contracted, you have it and so, only think of how to treat it. Stay healthy and do not let your immune system down because it will attack your body once the immune system is down. Stress and worries can also trigger outbreaking of herpes. Pls see one of those counseling video and find out more about herpes.Hope this help! |
