Genital Herpes, please help. SO worried.?

On about September 13th I preformed oral on someone. Both me and him are virgins, and we were the first to experience this (no past sexual partners). The thing is about a day afterwards, I felt a tingling feeling on my lip and I immediately got a read bad cold sore on there. It eventually went away like in a week, and everything was fine. I never had itching on or near my vagina, and the guy I was with is fine as well.

Is there any chance of my getting genital herpes from him? I am just so worried. Please help! If we haven't ever been sexually active amongst anyone else, I should be okay, right?

If you got the cold sore a day afterwards, then it's very unlikely you got the virus from him: a new infection usually takes about a week or so to start to show up.

You have probably had the cold sore virus (usually HSV 1, but sometimes HSV 2) for some time. Most people (up to 80 per cent by age 30) have at least one of these viruses in their system.

Friction can set off a cold sore attack (this might be possible in your case) as can sunburn, having a cold, or being run down or stressed. Soemtimes they occur for no particular reason.

If you get cold sores a lot, it's worth keeping some Acyclovir or similar ointment on hand. This is quite effective in stopping the attacks, but you need to use it very early - at the tingling stage. You can buy it without prescription in Australia, but check with your pharmacist where you live.

Be cool! Don't panic! There are basically 2 types of Herpes.
Sounds like you had or have HSV-1 which is :Herpes Simplex Virus -1 which is a cold sore. Genital Herpes or HSV-2, is spread almost entirely thru sexual contact although you can spread it thru the oral -genital route. Sounds like you'll be ok just practice smart sex using condoms and be aware that you can spread it from mouth to genitals with an active sore! You can ask your Dr. for medication to control or lesson the cold sores when you get them. You'll be though so enjoy the holidays! Peace
