Can genital herpes be spread without sexual contact? |
I have a baby and I am very concerned with spreading the disease to him. I always wash my hands but I feel like it's not enough. Can clothing carry the disease and spread it? Unless your baby comes into contact with your genital area, you aren't going to pass it on to your baby. Washing your hands will help if you have touched your genital area and then are going to touch the baby. Other than that, no need to wash your hands (other than colds, flus, basic hygiene, etc.). And no worries with clothing. There is some thought that maybe damp towels that YOU have used on your genital area MIGHT spread it, but its not been proven in a lab. Check out the handbook I have listed as a source. And there are really good articles and forums at the second source. Source(s): http://www.westoverheights.com/freebookt... http://www.racoon.com/herpes/ No the only way to pass it on is by having sex! It's a sexually transmitted disease. Well, as far as i know, what you would have to be most concerned with is if you passed it to him when you delivered the child. However, as far as clothes and things go, I think it is extremely rare to contract herpes through clothes, sheets, toilet seats, and things of that nature. If you want to know more about it. You should check out this site. http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/stdh... good luck ska Well, it depends on how you define "sexual contact". If you only call vaginal intercourse sexual contact, then no. It's actually not that difficult to spread, especially since a person can have herpes in places other than their genitals (such as their mouth or eyes). So, if someone has oral herpes and performs oral sex on someone, they can give that person genital herpes. NO. But there is a chanse if u have an outbrake and u touch the blister, and then u touch somebody more. But, out of this, there is no chanse u can pass the virus to anyother people without having sex yes you can spread it to the child via hand genital contact such as changing him or if you bathe the child after genital contact of whatever sort. You can also spread the genital herpes to the baby's mouth through that sort of contact. The moral of this story is wash your hands and no this is not common. |
