Are genital herpes blisters painful or painless? |
I mean, if you have a blister and you rub against it and squeeze it, does it hurt or is it completely painless, as if squeezing a whitehead pimple? The vesicles (or blisters) caused by herpes are considered painful. A painless "blister" may be a type of skin cancer, or a sign of syphillis. Herpes blisters are painful until they scab over and heal. Under no circumstances should they be squeezed, since that spreads the virus around. The condition should be treated by a doctor since it's contageous. Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted viral infection that is characterized by repeated eruptions of small, painful blisters on the genitals, around the rectum, or covering adjacent areas of skin. A common infection caused by the herpes simplex virus type 2 or type 1. Type 1 is commonly acquired through oral sex, while type 2 is transmitted through sexual intercourse. Symptoms include small blisters in the genital area which rapidly break down to leave painful ulcers. Other symptoms include pain or difficulty in passing urine. Some patients may develop headache and fever. Herpes infection during late pregnancy is potentially dangerous to the baby during labour. Herpes is a life-long chronic condition which cannot be cured. However, there are antiviral drugs available which can reduce the severity of symptoms.
