I have Genital Herpes, my life is over, I cant even date anymore, I feel dirty and out of this wolrd,?

I am 24 and i was diagnosesd with G.H. I dont feel attractive anymore, I am always scare that i will meet someone get attach and wanting to be with him. I dont know how I got it, i just know that I be single for the rest of my life :( I am scare to give it to someone that I am attractive to, that i will luv him, but that I will have to confess such an emberresing thing. what should i do? when i get a breaout!! i wanna die, i wanna dissapear, is so painful, so not hot, so not cool, so traumatic. I hate my life :(

I understand how you could feel the way you do but you must remember: 1 out of 5 people on the planet has g.h. When you put that into perspective, there are approx. 250 million people in the U.S. That would be 50 million people suffering with G.H. just like you are. Feel so alone now? G.H. is manageable with medication. Stress will trigger outbreaks, so managing that as well will help.

As far as telling someone you are thinking about becoming intimate with, it's best to be up front and honest. It's not a first date topic but when you feel like things are heading in the intimacy direction, have an open, honest discussion about the situation. Offer information and look at it together. Answer any questions. Have safe sex and be honest with your partner when you have a break out. Surprisingly, you'll find that if you are in a committed, monogamous relationship, your partner won't care if he/she gets it. Most will feel like you're worth it. At least, that's my experience.

Well, a good way to get over it is to try and take some prescribed medicines from your doctor to help and control breakouts and to try to decrease the risk of passing it on to your partner.

Also, one day you will find someone who will not care if you pass it on to them, as long as you two are staying toghether forever you won't care whether you have it or not. Someone you meet will udnerstand.
Oh sweetie, I can only imagine what you are going through. I know it is easier said then done but try to stay calm. First of all, your not the only person in the world that is diagnosed with G.H. The important thing is that there is treatment to help prevent outbreaks. You can still live a normal life if you take care of yourself. It's not like the doctor told you that you have cancer and less then 6 months to live. I'm sure you are smarter then to have thoughts of not wanting to live. When you meet someone and when he falls in love with you tell him the truth and if he loves you he will respect your honesty. Just because of your situation doesn't mean you will infect someone else. Protect yourself to try to prevent that. I know a few people with G.H and still live a normal life. Good luck and never give up.
Well when you get over the shock(ya knew things like this could happen if you are having sex, especially with multiple partners).

Just put on your big girl panties and deal with it. Is more to life then sex anyway. That is only one small part. Just do what the Doc told you and take care of yourself. Don't dwell on it to much since you cannot change it now.

Go on with your job and enjoy your friends. Maybe take a course at a local vocational school. Something you like. Have a girl friend go too. Luckily there are treatments now that are really effective. You will have sex again some day. Look up on the internet, or go to the library and read up on Herpes. Educate yourself on your fate so you can take charge.
wow, go find the guy or guys you've had sex with, and tell them you're pregnant. ask them if they had herpes because you can pass it onto their child but they can stop it during fetal stage or something. make them take a blood test and if they didnt know, you got a innocent infecter. maybe you passed it on to the guys too, i dont know.

But look at it this way, you cant die from herpes, you can get it treated. best STD you can get is crabs, worst is HIV/AIDS.
