Cure for genital herpes?

Cure for genital herpes?

There is no cure currently for the herpes virus. It is a virus and will stay with you the rest of your life.

If you have it, the only thing you can do is take medication to suppress the virus and prevent breakouts. Medication can be taken daily or just when you are having an outbreak or "feel" an outbreak coming.

There are a few medications that someone can take. Acyclovir (Zovirax) tablets, famciclovir (Famvir) tablets, and valacyclovir (Valtrex) tablets. There is also an acyclovir (Zovirax ointment), but it offers little benefit in the treatment of genital herpes and is not recommended.

If you don't have herpes the best thing you can do is to protect yourself. Always wear a condom, or if you are a girl, insist the guy does. Although condoms are NOT 100% effective they are the best thing you can do to prevent getting the virus, other then abstinence. Source(s): I have herpes.
