Can the genital herpes virus be passed onto a new born baby by its mother through breast feeding?

This question is a serious question, so please give truthful answers. I have a friend that has the genital herpes virus and is pregnant, she wishes to breast feed her new born baby once its born, but didnt ask her doctor if it would be okay. Im trying to find information for her, so she can prepare herself and protect her baby once its born.

It will be safe for her to breastfeed. However if she has an active outbreak then I'm pretty sure they should do a c-section rather than normal delivery. I read somewhere that the Herpes virus can get into the baby's eyes during a vaginal delivery and that's really, really bad. I hope your friend's Dr. knows she has this, for the sake of the baby.

It cannot be passed through breast milk. Contact must be with the warts themselves within your pelvic area. Zovorax( not sure of spelling) is medicine that is used when you have genital warts or they can be froze off. The only way to catch the virus is through sexual contact or through a vaginal delivery.

More important problem than breast-feeding baby is that the infection will be pass to baby during birth so she must immediatey tell about this infection to her doctor.

The child will get herpes witha vaginal delivery.
