If I have genital herpes.....?

I think I might have genital herpes. If I really do, what ways will it impact my life? Will I be able to have intercourse? Will I be in pain? PLEASE HELP!!!

In order to know whether you have gential herpes or not, you should find out by letting your Gyn Doc examine you or by blood test or culture test.
I have GH for about 6 yrs now. First, i didn't know i had this and didn't even know about this virus existance. When i found out, i got scared but knowing that it's treatable, and i am not going to die from it making me relief. i am 36 weeks pregnant and having outbreak. 20 days ago, i had a outbreak and i was put on acyclovir. it was healed after 5 days but it again happened yesterday. i think i am having some stress due to the closeness of the due date to give birth. Stress, Fatigue, low immune system can trigger the herpes outbreaking. My husband doesn't seem to have it but not sure because he never get tested. I told my husband about it even before i was dating with him and he is okay with it. Yes, we are able to have intercourse. Becareful though. If you have pain and lesion and itching and tingling, burning, sensations, avoid having sex and having direct skin to skin contact. It can infect the skin where the condom can't reached to cover up. Wash hands after touching the lesion or sore. It can selfinfected by other areas of the body such as lip, eyes, buttocks. when there is no outbreak, lesion, sore, early warning symptoms (Mild Itching, tingling, burning), you can have sex. One thing, herpes can be active on the skin without having lesion or symptoms. The chances of infection in this case is unknown since you do not know whether the virus is presenting on the skin or not.
Yes, you can live in normal life. I am very depressed when having outbreak but once they are healed, i live normally again. i am married and will have a baby. if there is an outbreak or lesion, i can deliver my baby by c-section to be safe but not 100%. Vaginal delivery without lesion or outbreaking is recommended to many women with recurrent herpes.
You will not be in pain at all except the sores may be painful and itchy. Don't let it impact your life. it can be controled by Antiviral medications such as acyclovir, valtrax. They can reduce the frequency and duration outbreaks.
so,
1. do not have sex and sex activities such as rubbing, touching skin to skin contact when you are having outbreak, lesion, early warning symptoms
2. You can reduce the duration of outbreak and frequency of outbreak by taking antiviral medications and in addition, you can take some medication for pain(from the sores) along with it. Ask your Gyn Doctor.
3. you can live normally.
4. you can marry and have baby (discuss with your partner and let him know before marrying or dating)
5. c-section is available for pregnant women with lesion/outbreak at the time of delivery. (recurrent herpes)
6. Do not touch the sore and touch other parts of the body. It can be reinfected to the other parts of the body.
7. Don't let your immune system down. Stress, depression, lack of vitamins can trigger recurrent outbreaks. so, take vitamins, eat healthy food to maintain your health.

i think you should cut off your penis, its worthless now that you have herpes.
j/k lol
I guess this is the cruel joke that unprotected sex plays in your life.

The real question is not how it will impact your life, but how will you impact the lives of others. You can pass herpes even if you are not broken out at the time. That is probally how you got it. Was it worth it.

The medications today can generally keep outbreaks to a minimum and can usually keep discomfort and pain undser control. The bad news is that you will have herpes until the day you die. You can pass herpes until the day you die.

If you are a decent human being you should be totally honest with any partner and NEVER have unprotected sex again.

Was it worth it? Hopefully at least one person can learn from your mistake.
Its too bad what your going through but do your research because even with a condom if someone has a open wound and you have a leison you can transfer the virus with or without the condom. I know it's easier said than done but talk to your partners or partner they may not know they have it. So this is a tricky disease, and yes be honest with who ever you plan to sleep with because evidently someone wasn't as honest with you.
For sure do some research, hon. But herpes --- genital herpes--- is, with one exception, just an inconvenience. It is a cold sore in your genital area, and/or peri-anal area. And from the hype you see on tv,OMG if you don't take our druuuuuggggg, go gunna die succa!!!!

Just remember something about drug companies: (and about everything else too) It is always about money. If drug companies spend tons of money to develop a drug, and they can't sell it, they don't do well in the stock market, and investors are pissed, their stock goes down, and they are outa business. If you wish to know more, write.

The one exception when genital herpes is really bad: When a pregnant woman is about to deliver, and has an outbreak. The virus attacks the newborn's neurological system with dire results. Other than that, hon, you just have a cold sore, and as I said, if you need more, write.
