I just went to the doctor to check up on a bump I found on my penis. It looks like a largish-mosquito bite (which they think it probably is). Anyway, they took a swab and are testing it for Herpes, just in case. But... I'm not sexually active, nor have I been for about a year. This includes all forms (oral sex etc.). Is there another way to spread Herpes? Could I have had herpes for a long time and not know about it? What would it mean if I have it?
you could very well have herpes and you're just now having an outbreak.
If you have cold sores, and happened to touch it, then you can have genital herpes outbreaks for the rest of your life. You may have been exposed, and now are having an outbreak a whole year later. I doubt it, but it's possible.
