Home treatments for genital herpes PAIN relief? |
i have had this condition for a few years now. i know all about valtrex and other prescriptions - i'm just looking for something that will help the itching! and no, i am not promiscous, and yes, i am well informed about the diesease and i know there is no cure. i'm not looking for opinions on my lifestyle please, just a way to deal with the itch until the herpe goes away (I get outbreaks maybe once a year, and it's always just one herpe, goes away in about a week but sometimes the itch is too much) thank you in advance for serious answers! :) You could always take some diphenhydramine (brand name: Benadryl) for the itching. It usually makes people a little sleepy though, just a FYI. I find warm bathes help me out a lot. Take a nice warm bubble bath and when you are done dry your genital area off with a blow dryer. I know, it sounds stupid but it works and my doctor told me to do it too. Rubbing your genital area dry with a towel can spread the sores. Then put on some nice soft cotton underwear and some nice pajama pants. Avoid having anything real tight fitting on. You can also try and put an ice pack on to try and numb the pain a little bit. And you can always take some Ibuprofen for the pain. Good luck to you! I know how bad it can get! Source(s): Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for 6 years. I'm also a pharmacy technician for a hospital. maybe lotion or anti-itch cream. ask a doc. aloe vera is supposed to be soothing on freshly waxed skin, so it might help calm that area of skin. Insect bites/sting sprays/creams are anti itching, so that may help as well, but i'd check it out w/ your dr first best of luck Cold water. Or try Ice. Hi there, Black Walnut has been used to treat fungal and bacterial infections; it has also been used to help herpes flare ups. I have seen it in tincture form but not yet as an ointment or cream. It can be applied directly to the skin but since tinctures are alcohol based I would only use a little on a cotton swab and apply a little as it can cause a burning sensation. If it persists don't use it that way. Again, as a tincture it is safe to injest. Injesting it may help to speed up the length of the outbreak but it might not directly solve the itch and burn. Again, you may be able to find it as a cream I just have never looked for it. Cheers. a dab of miracle whip mixed with vinegar and baking soda |
