Can you get genital herpes from a cold sore? |
Can you get genital herpes from a cold sore? yes yes yes...(oral sex)http://www.webmd.com/content/article/51/... Yes. Since the same virus that causes genital herpes also causes cold sores (herpes labialis), HSV can be spread from a genital sore to the lips or from a cold sore to the genital area. HSV can be spread to or from the genitals, an us, or mouth during sexual activities or through any direct contact with herpes sores. You become infected when the virus enters your body through a break in the skin or through moist areas (mucous membranes) such as the mouth, an us, and vagina. Even very small breaks in the skin allow the virus to infect the body. I am a nurse for over 20 yrs yes there are two types of herpes type I and type II. Type one is the cold sore variety and type II is the genital variety. I have accidently found out that Vitamin E cream is very effect in eleminating the type I virus. As soon as the lesion is know apply vitamin E cream. I use it routinely and have not have an outbreak in 18 months .... not sure why it works but it does You can transmit a cold sore to the genitals and a genital hepres sore to the mouth. Remember - although they are both Herpes viruses - they are not the same thing. The outbreak is different. Genital herpes tends to be more severe. Cold sores tend to be smaller. Herpes is a big family of infections which also includes chicken pox, etc. |
