Can you die from genital herpes?

I know this is a really stupid question, but I'm afraid I have genital herpes, although I really doubt it. But what's the worst that will happen? It just keeps coming back right?

Having genital herpes really isn't as bad as some of the other STDs out there. Bacterial STDs can cause sterility and infertility. Syphilis can be deadly and HIV/AIDS is deadly. And, HPV can cause cancer.

Genital herpes is not deadly, and it doesn't cause infertility or cause a person to become sterile. It also doesn't cause any long term health problems or cancer.

It is however for life. Once a person contracts genital herpes they have it for their entire life. And, yes it does cause outbreaks, which can reoccur. These outbreaks are painful, but they heal! Also, the longer the person has had genital herpes, the less outbreaks they tend to get. I have personally had genital herpes for 6 years and my last outbreak was over 2 years ago!

The only time genital herpes is deadly is when an infant contracts it through birth. Chances of a baby being born with herpes occurs in less then 1% of births, but if a baby does contract it they have a 25% of it being fatal. Source(s): Personal experience. Technically genital herpes causes no damage whatsover to the body. It is not life threatening and is only a cosmetic ailment. The only medically serious issue with it is that it causes lesions that leave the skin more open to infection by deadly infections such as HIV. Plus emotional/social issues, of course.

Oral herpes is slightly more dangerous due to the possibility of it spreading to the eyes during the first outbreak (before any immunity is developed) and causing damage there. This is quite rare.
You need a total cure and that means eat your medicine on time and avoid sexual contacts with any partners until its fully cured. Genital Herpes can be cured. In other words, one won't die from Genital Herpes.

When a woman has genital herpes and human Paloma virus there's a greater chance for cervical cancer. It does keep coming back since it goes dormant in the nervous system.
The outbreaks can sometimes be trigger by stress. One good thing is that as time goes by, the outbreaks are not as often.
Genital Herpes cannot kill you, the virus itself cannot. Nor can it be healed, herpes has no cure, it can be treated, and with luck and proper medications a person can be outbreak free for some time. Genital Herpes is ALWAYS contagious, but it is supposed to be less contagious the longer its been since an outbreak. Im not a scientists so the truth to that im not 100% on, but there is always a certain degree of contagion. During an outbreak, you are EXTREMELY contagious and can pass herpes on through sexual contact or simple contact with sores, as the sores themselves are essentially the virus reproducing, google Genital Herpes, im sure you can find lots more information.

Herpes, like any illness weakens your immune system, if herpes weakens your immune system enough, theoretically a common cold could kill you. This is all contingent upon your own immune system and how strong it is naturally or through over the counter products that claim to help boost your immune system.
