With somone who has genital herpes can it spread by drinking after them?

Genital herpes is not a cold sore. It is an STD because it is transmitted by sexual contact. I guess... drinking after a person with GH will not give you the illness, unless you drink ... waht you are not supposed to.

You have to be very cautious period. Because Herpes symplex 1 which is the one you would have in the mouth period, actually ever human being has it, it's just most peoples stay dormant. Cold sores are herpes. However, you don't have to be worried aobut drinking after someone, but be more worried about spreading germs period, don't drink after someone unless you have to, best to just drink out of your own cup, eat with your own fork, and keep your own germs.

You can get cold sores after drinking after them, which is herpes simplex one. And it's not some much drinking whatever fluid they are drinking, it's getting your lips on the glass or straw where they had their lips. If they have a sore on their lips, you can get it from kissing them or even sharing chap-stick with them.

BUT, if they have genital herpes then no, you will not get it. Genital herpes is herpes simplex two. This is only spread by direct skin to skin contact, sex, and even oral sex (more rarely). But if all they have is genital herpes then no you can not get a cold sore from them (herpes simplex one). I have genital herpes and occasionally if I have a good drink when we go out I'll tell my mom to try it. She has NEVER got herpes from me.

Also, as for the first girl saying everyone has it. WRONG! About 80% of the world DOES have herpes simplex one (cold sores), but not everyone. Take me for example! I have never had a cold sore in my life! Cold sores and genital herpes are two different strains of the virus!
