I've got some genital herpes questions!? |
I broke up with my boyfriend of 9 months some time ago. I started seeing him recently and he does have another girlfriend. I have not been with anyone else since him. His and my private areas HAVE NOT touched during our meetings (maybe for a second on accident while sleeping tho) but we have done oral and touching. The other day while I woke up with him, I saw a red bump on his penis(popped up overnight?). Looks like a pimple up by his pubic hairs. That night we went down and he had a swab test which we are waiting on the results. His gf is waiting on her results. *How possible, with what we've done together, is it that I've contracted this possilby herpes case? *Could this be his first outbreak of herpes that he got from me 9 months ago? I dont think I have herpes..but I know some have no symptoms. *What should I do for myself testing wise? (I know blood tests can be inncacurate if done too soon.) *His sore looks nothing like pictures I've seen. Is that a really good sign? It could be a ingrown hair. But I would go get tested just to be on the safe side. You can go to any free clinic and they will do a thorough STD screening where they check for all major STD's Maybe his gf has herpes and gave it to him? It may just be an ingrown hair, too. He should have a doctor look at it. But if in doubt, get yourself tested, definitely. I'm sorry about your situation here but I hope this site could help you out www.labtestsonline.org/underst... ooooh that is some scary sh**. first let me say good luck! how the heck do your privates touch on accident while sleeping? from what you've decribed it sounds like your in the clear. but I would get tested at least twice over the next six months to make sure. of course your gyno will also test you during your pap smear. again, good luck with that girl cuz that is some scaaary sh** Type in genital herpes in the yahoo info line. But remember one thing--- herpes is really no big deal. It is only a big deal if you are a pregnant female, about to deliver, and having an outbreak. Otherwise, it is like having a little coldsore around your perianal area, that is somewhat tender. Meds from your phys in the form of a cream take the sting out of the sore. The interesting thing about herpes was that all of a sudden in the 80's there were all sorts of stories on the front of Time and Newsweek and everywhere, just scaring the socks off of everyone. Then AIDS appeared, and no one heard a thing about herpes. We do know, however than open sores of herpes allow the HIV virus to enter the bloodstream if you have an outbreak, and have sex with an HIV+ partner. Genital herpes is no more a pain in the neck than oral herpes (cold sores) are in the mouth.... you won't die of them, they don't progress to rot your brain or anything else. And, though you won't read this, it is very unlikely that you can shed the virus if you are not having an outbreak. (drug companies will tell you otherwise, because --- surprise!!!! ---- they don't make any money on their drugs if you don't take them!!!! (Drug companies -- that's another problem...) Interestingly over 90% of all people have the herpes oral virus by the time they are 3 from adults kissing and spittering on them. We don't panic with that, do we???? This is not to say that some people have a really tough time with herpes -- cold sores so often that some areas of their lips are scarred. And those with immuno suppressed systems also have a tough time. But if you are a normal, healthy individual, you have likely had oral herpes since you were 3, you might have transmitted oral herpes to your genital area by moistening a tampon while you had a cold sore. Helpful??? If there is a pimple near his pubic hair then it is not likely herpes. It's probably just an infected hair follicle. If you want to know if you have it, get a herpes select blood test now and then another one in 3 months. |
