Can u give blood with genital herpes?

Can u give blood with genital herpes?

Of course you can!

According to the American Red Cross:
"Chlamydia, venereal warts (human papilloma virus), or genital herpes are not a cause for deferral if you are feeling healthy and well and meet all other eligibility requirements."
http://www.redcross.org/services/biomed/...

Herpes is NOT in a persons blood like HIV/AIDS is. Herpes affects the skin, it's not a blood disease. Herpes can be TESTED by a blood sample, but in order for a person to spread it they either have to have sex (vaginal, oral, or anal) with someone who has it, or they need to have DIRECT skin to skin contact with an infected area. It can also be passed during birth if the mother has the virus. This happens when the baby is coming through the birth canal and rubs against the sores (DIRECT skin to skin contact). Source(s): Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for 6+ years.
