If a person with herpes hsv1 gives me oral sex, will catch genital herpes? |
can someone answer my question is important to me.i got herpes hsv1 i have it for a year already. i just got with my girlfriend and i been kissing her for a month already. well i'm sure she already has herpes too because we kiss each other. does anyone knows if she already might have herpes and if she did oral sex did i catch GENITAL HERPES". can anyone help? Before answering your question, you need to know more about herpes. Herpes can be spread by direct skin to skin contact when you are the infected person and having lesion or outbreak. Sometimes, the virus can be on the surface of the skin without having symptoms and lesions/sores. In this case, the infection to the another person is uknown since you do not know whether you have herpes virus on your skin or not. HSV1 can be on the lip, genital area, and other part of the skin on the body. So, you may have genital herpes but caused by HSV1. Some have genital herpes that caused by HSV2. If you have outbreaking in both area and you want to find out which type of hsv you have, get tested. You can have oral/ intercourse while there is no symptoms (early warning symptoms such as tingling, itching, burning) and lesion/sores. When you have such symptoms avoid skin to skin contact. Using condoms may not prevent transmitting of herpes where the contact of skin to skin which condom can't be reached to cover up. avoid touching sores/lesions with hands and touching other body parts because it can self reinfected to the other areas such as eyes, face, buttocks and all the skin area on the body. to answer your question- did your gf have lesion/sore on her lip or somewhere near there while performing oral? if not, chances to get HSV1 in genital area of you is extremely low. You are sure she has already herpes too? She may or may not. If you guys kiss each other while there is no lesion and sores on you, again, chances to pass it to her is low. Prevention/treatments 1. avoid sexual activities such as intercourse, rubbing, touching skin to skin, kisssing while having outbreak/lesion/sores and early warning symptoms. 2. Whenever you happen to touch the sore, wash hands before you touch yourself or others. 3. Take vitamins everyday and eat healthy food so that the frequency of outbreaking herpes will be reduced and the duration of outbreaking will be shortened. 4. if getting worse, see your medical doctor and get treatment or you can buy Abreva (OTC medication to treat cold sore). If in genital area, see your doctor and ask for the antiviral medication such as acyclovir or valtrax etc. Source(s): i have both type of HSV (1& 2) for 6 yrs. I am married and pregnant 36 weeks. My husband's status of HSV is unknown because he doesn't get tested yet. dam . cant answer but need to know too, good to know!! ;) Type I causes cold sores on the mouth. Type II causes gential sores. If she has sores on her mouth and gives you oral sex, then yes, you can get genital herpes. For some reason though. Gential herpes cannot cause oral herpes. So how do you know for sure if you have genital herpes? Get a blood test. These can be pricey so it's just one more reason to use a condom or dental dam and practice safe sex. Dental dams are used for when you want to give a female partner oral sex and not pass herpes on your mouth to her genital area. I know... nag nag nag about safe sex. Sorry. I studied STD's for 2 years in a university research group, and I had to learn a lot about all this from my boyfriend/fiance who died from HIV. |
