Could some 1 pls explain Genital Herpes what is it, how do you get it, any cure etc.????????????? Genital herpes is a contagious sexually transmitted disease caused by a virus. It is transmitted to sexual contact, or oral/genital contact (such as oral sex). There are two forms of herpes that are the most common. HSV1 and HSV2. HSV1 is the oral form, such as cold sores. This form is very common, and is also contagious if you kiss someone or drink from a glass or can after somene that has an active cold sore. HSV2 is the genital form. You can get this disease by oral sex, unprotected sex, or touching a persons genitals with your hand and putting your hand to your mouth without washing (it is able to cross effect--you can get genital herpes from someone with a cold sore after oral sex, and vice versa) There is no cure for herpes. It is a virus that lays dormant in the nervous system after the first outbreak. The first episode is called the initial infection (primary). Subsequent infections, known as recurrences, occur if and when the virus returns from the nerve cell to the site of the first infection (such as genitals or oral). There is a medication that helps reduce your occurance of future outbreaks, called Valtrex, and more recently Famvir has come out but I have not heard much about this medicine. It is still possible to spread genital herpes with no signs or symptoms of an infection. Thats why you should always use protection. Not only for this disease, but for any of the STDs out there. When you get an outbreak, it is classified as having painful blister like areas on your genitals. For women, its on the "lips" and the opening of the vagina. For men, it can be the head, shaft, or base of the penis. Occasionally, but not very frequently, the sores can appear on the testicles and cervix. If you are infected from having anal sex, then your sores will appear around the anus. The blisters eventually crust over, dry up, and then you are asymptomatic again. But still contagious. Once you have herpes, some people may think that they cannot bear children, but that is not true. If the mother is asymptomatic at that time when she's in labor, then a vaginal birth can happen. If the mother has an active outbreak, then the dr will do a c-section to prevent infecting the baby. Take a look on the net, theres hundreds of pages out there on this subject. This is all what I know, since I live with this disease. When I was diagnosed, I was an information fiend.. I read up on it as much as possible. Now I try to help others understand it and cope with a diagnosis of Herpes Simplex Virus 2. Source(s): Having herpes for 6 yrs, and being a nurse Genital Herpes is a Sexually Tansmitted Disease (STD). It is a larger strand of Mouth Herpes (Cold sores). It is contracted by unprotected sex (And sometimes protected sex, if the woman touches the male genital skin with her own, and vice versa). Genital Herpes are swollen, and sometimes painful "warts" on the genitals. THERE IS NO CURE FOR GENITAL HERPES. With treatment you CAN prevent your outbreaks of herpes (They come and go), but you will NEVER GET RID OF THEM. Once you have contracted Genital Herpes, you have it for life. Be safe. Use a condom. Hi herpes is a STD, and is caused by a virus similar to the one that causes cold sores. It is contacted via sex. Unfortunately there is no cure. It goes through stages of flaring up and then the symptoms of it may disappear for a while before reappearing again. If you have it you should use protection when having sex as you can pass it onto your partner. No cure for that STD Do not do it your previous post already explained how it is transmitted. DO NOT DO IT. You want to live with it the rest of your life? I doubt that. |
