Herpes can lie dormant. Your partner may have had it prior to your relationship. Doesn't mean anyone has cheated. First outbreak may have been very mild. Are you sure it is herpes? See your doctor.

kissing oral sex
hands(yes, herpes can infect the hand), towels, or you could have contracted herpes years ago and only now present with visible symptoms
