What is the likelihood of contracting genital herpes if condoms are used during sex? |
Just curious. I'm referring to situations in which you do not know if your partner has herpes. Although condoms are highly effective for preventing the transmission of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), recent studies have concluded that condoms only offer partial protection. Source(s): http://www.positivesingles.com/blog/mala... The likelihood is small but not a guarantee against anything. If you read the "small' print on the back of the box of condoms there is a disclaimer stating this. Also, the herpes virus has two common strains I & II; I being oral; II being genital. Herpes (both strains) can cause an outbreak in various parts of the body especially type II (in the pubic hair area, buttocks). This is why so many males think that an outbreak is just a case of "jock itch" or females think it is a yeast infection. Used correctly, the chances are very low. Just be sure if there are sores on the other person you do not make contact with them with a body part of yours. You shouldn't have sex with someone they have an outbreak, though. The condom doesn't cover every part of the body that herpes can form on. Don't take the chance. Yes you definitely can spread herpes if condoms are used. There could be virus in an area not covered by the condoms. u can still get warts |
