Yes, L-lysine is often used to provide some relief (though not nearly as effective as prescription anti-herpes medications). However, infection with the herpes family of viruses is always permanent - you can never eradicate the virus from your body. Most of the time this isn't a problem - HSV remains latent (dormant) in most people infected with it almost all of the time. But it cannot be "cured."
