Is it safe for a pregnant woman with genital herpes deliver a baby without having a C-section?

This question pertains to whether she is OR is not having an outbreak at the time.

If the mother is not having an outbreak there is less of a chance to pass the genital herpes on to the new born baby. But let me ask you a question, have you ever seen a child that was delivered vaginally from a mother with herpes. It is not a good sight. The child can be born with herpes on their face and body. Save your self the heart break and your child the pain and get a c section.
No, passing throught he vaginal canal can spread the virus to the baby and cause blindness. In my experience, most docotors won't do a vaginal delivery if you are positive for Herpies. It's too risky.
It is NOT safe in any circumstance!!! If you are considering this at all, think of the child and don't.
some ob/gyn's will give you valtrex before you deliver to try to quell the outbreak....it really depends on your dr, though.
i love my job in the pharmacy....lol! you learn all kinds of weird stuff!
