My husband has a cold sore which is herpes simplex one, can he give me genital herpes if we have sex? |
we had sex last night. im scared on getting sores on my genitals through him touching me down there with his hand and he also used his saliva as lube? help please im so dam paranoid! You are NOT paranoid...open cold sores can cause infection that will never go away...NO Play when cold sore is open or blister stage. Sometimes they even have little pamplets with info in them about STD's so that you dont have to ask anyone. keep his mouth away from your bits when he has a breakout! herpes one is less infectious than herpes two, although both can cause genital sores. my guess is, however, that you are unlikely to get it now if you have been together for a while. 70% of people who get genital herpes get it from someone who is NOT having sympotoms at the time (called asymptomatic viral shedding). people with HSV1 shed less often than people with HSV2. it is my guess that you have already been exposed to the virus, and may already have it, although it clearly isn't causing you any symptoms. it is possible to take valtrex or similar drugs to reduce the chances of transmission (especially with HSV2) although some doctors recommend that people who are in long term relationships just expose one another and be done with it.
