How long would you be on Valtrex 500 mg for genital herpes and how many mg can you take per day? |
Physician gives Rx for Valtrex 500 mg - taking 1500 mg per take - you are given 120 tablets/capsules - I have asked a 2 questions in reference to genital herpes; I have been seperated from my husband since Dec 10th 2005; "we" have not been sexually active. I have recently found out that he was prescribed 120 Valtrex 500 mg and received the Rx on 4/7 - We are in marriage counseling, and out next session is on 4/18. Also he has been prescribed 100 of prednisone 10 mg? Help me understand this! From what I understand, 500mg of Valtrex once a day is the general prescription for daily use/prevention of outbreaks. That being said, the side effects of Valtrex is minimal for most people. Prednisone is a steroid which can be used to treat some skin disorders (I have sensitive skin and a few times have broken out in hives and been prescribed that). I would talk to your doctor, though. Unless you're having an outbreak, I would question the 1500 mg daily of Valtrex. Source(s): http://valtrex.com Personal experience having the damn bug Valtrex or Acyclovir Herpes medication is available online at http://remedyherpes.com/acyclovir.php... . Get your remedy for herpes online without a prior prescription! They are US licensed and located so you can order with confidence. ask your doctor, thats what he/she is there for Im not sure, one of my closest friends has herpes she has been taking her valtrex for a year now. I would ask your doctor though every ones body is different. Help you understand.... What exactly is it you want to know? The norm for those with Herpes is 500mg per day. If you just walk in to the Dr's office with it newly-discovered then you could take it up to 3 times a day. If you've had it and you generally experience over 9 outbreaks in one year then you could take up to 2 a day, or 1,000mg's. If you've been separated that long then how do you come to know his personal business? At any rate, he either had herpes and has been hiding it, or - contracted it from someone he's been with while separated from you and is seeking treatment. That being said, twice daily treatment with Valtrex is effective in suppressing genital herpes, but transmittal of the disease is still possible. If you and he are in counselling then that leads me to believe that you and he would like to work things out. You still can, and he should be up front with you about this, and it's not the end of the world. You and he could be active, but you would just refrain while he's having an outbreak. (He would know when that happens and should be able to communicate this with you openly; that is, if you are still interested in seeking a relationship with him in light of these latest facts you've uncovered.) I don't know anything about prednisone. You have access to the internet, so - look it up and do some research. Educate yourself before the next session. Lay it all on the table as points to be discussed and give him room to respond. Understand that it's hard on him, understand the pride involved especially now that you know, and if you and he really care for one another you'll pull through this just fine. Good luck. |
