What are the widespread effects on/in the body of genital Herpes Virus 2? |
Apart from the lesions on the penis and the sensitivity in the thighs/buttock just before, are there any other symptoms/ effects in/on the body? Only when you first get the virus = flu-like symptoms with fever are possible (a long with a LOT of burning pain and pain with urination). With each recurring episode, a lot of times your genitals (especially the area where the lesions appear) will burn and become reddened just before a breakout. It might hurt to go pee with recurrent episodes, too. However, with each recurrent infection the symptoms will decrease. Also, over time (years) the symptoms won't come as often and won't last as long. Remember that it is very contagious just before, during, and just after a breakout. Condoms provide some protection, depending on where the lesion is located. However, it is important to remain abstinent during a breakout. And don't touch an open lesion with your hand or finger b/c it can spread to your fingertip and other places! Use a Q-tip to apply any medicated cream! It is also important to tell any and all partners about this STD BEFORE having a sexual relationship with that person. If they are really into you and want to be with you, they will understand as long as you are careful not to infect them. To prevent breakouts or help them heal = keep area clean and DRY (you should dry with a blow-dryer after shower to get it really dry - there is hair there that stays wet if not blow-dryed)! Herpes generally stays put where it was contracted, smoldering in the local sensory nerves and reactivating from time to time. One particular herpes virus can reactivate to cause shingles at the site of infection. Other symptoms that may go with the first episode of genital herpes are fever, headache, muscle aches, painful or difficult urination, vaginal discharge, and swollen glands in the groin area. Genital herpes rarely takes a dangerous course in healthy people. People with severe immune system problems, such as those with AIDS, may have a life-threatening infection due to genital herpes. Genital herpes in pregnant women may be passed to a newborn during passage down the birth canal and can cause serious disease in the child. Once a herpes infection is acquired, it remains in the body for life. Most people have a return of blisters periodically. Hope this helps... and if it you!! Herpes simplex virus infections are spread by close contact with a person who is actively shedding viral particles. The person usually has blisters during shedding, but the skin might look quite normal. Sexual intercourse is not necessary for transmission of genital herpes. Condoms do not offer complete protection since blisters can occur on skin surfaces not covered by the condom. |
