There is a possibility! So stay on the safe side if you have an open lesion do not perform oral sex. Although, just because a person has cold sores does not mean they have genital herpes.They aren't the same virus. Cold sores won't turn into genital herpes. If your saying the person has cold sores and genital herpes then yes.

Both are in the herpes family. You should be having protected sex anyway there are many other more serious diseases out there.
No!!! They are two completely different viruses. They only way to get gentital herpes is from the gentials. Cold sores are transmitted by kissing, eating, or drinking after someone who currently has one.
