Can you have protected (condom) sex with someone who has genital herpes and not get infected?

Can you have protected (condom) sex with someone who has genital herpes and not get infected?

Although condoms do provide some protection against the herpes virus, one may still get herpes even though a condom is used. This is because herpes is transmitted via. skin on skin contact and not through blood or secretions like other stds. Copies of the virus are shed from the skin and can affect the other person through contact with mucous membrane (genital areas that aren't covered by the condom). WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TRY ? WOULD YOU HAVE PROTECTED SEX WITH A PERSON THAT HAS AIDS ?
wouldn't bank on it

The best way to ensure you dont get herpes is to not bang a skank with herpes.
