I'm a female of 16 years of age and i have Genital herpes?


Will i always have genital herpes,
will i still be able to have children

You certainly can have kids.

You will always have herpes. There is no known cure. Treatments are highly successful, and can actually cause outbreaks to be VERY rare.
Genital herpes in itself is not dangerous.But it is a viral disease and is infectious.Trace the source.Get a check up for other STD if you have a history of exposure.Make sure you press your under garments are pressed both inside and outside.Change them daily or better twice a day.

Herpes can be controlled with medicine. But remember I said controlled. The outbreaks can be less or less servere. It is not cured. Yes, you will still be able to have children. Just remember when you have sex, make your partener wear a comdom. You can still live a healthly happy life with herpes, but take precautions. Good Luck!
Valtrex is effective at treating and (when taken daily) preventing outbreaks.

Unfortunately, you will always "have" it... but it's not the end of the world. My aunt had children, without complications. Other women do, too.

I actually know alot of other people with it... it's extremely common.

I'm sure that this is a huge wake-up to use condoms. Unfortunately, not all guys like to use those things and I'm sure that if they were more willing to put up with some minor inconvienence then there'd be alot less STDs going on.

Try using polyurethane nonlatex condoms- the guy can feel more and they're a little more comfortable. Definitely worth the extra money.

It's tough to be assertive, too.

I don't know how you're handling this, but online forums can be helpful for support... until you get sick of talking about it and want to move on :-)

In my experience, when you get a little older, you'll find guys are pretty understanding about this. Actually, the older you get and the older they get, the more "cool" they are with it. There are alot worse things, many people have it, and if you're using a condom and on the preventative meds- there's not much else you can do to prevent the spread of it short of not having sex :-)

It really bites that people tend to say "well you shouldn't have been having sex" or whatever. Obviously you usually catch genital herpes from sex. It's not like anyone chooses to catch any STD, and if you were enjoying the sex... well, that's YOUR business :)

Yes, you can have kids. But in order to have kids, you need to have unprotected sex with your partner. That means your partner might get herpes also!!!!
