I've had a heart transplant and am wondering what the effects of genital herpes can cause to the new heart?


I have not contracted genital herpes but am in a relationship with someone that does have it. Protection is always used but there is always that risk.

Herpes wouldn't directly cause your new heart problems. However, if your immune system is weakened or down because of the stress of the transplant, and you got infected with herpes...you could end up with more frequent and more severe outbreaks than the average person would have. Thats something to consider....
I can 99.997% promise you that you will test antibody + for HSV2 if you've had any normal sexual relation with your partner. Herpes infections are generally asymptomatic in most people. As far as your heart, I know of nothing in the medical literature relating any herpes infection to heart complications.
