Is there an anti-viral gel/lubricant approved to protect against the genital herpes virus? |
I know that there have been some tests done to develop a product to be used during sex to help protect from the herpes virus. Has anyone seen this product yet, and if so, where can it be purchased? Any experiences with this? There is one being developed, but it won't be out for 5 more years, and that's only if tests work Source(s): http://www.medhelp.org/forums/std/std-fa... I haven't ever heard of anything like that. The only way that viruses are killed is when macrophages of the body kill them or incineration. No, currently there is nothing to protect against the genital herpes virus.. except.. CONDOMS!! Its a nasty nasty disease that lives in your body for the rest of your life, getting less and less annoying with age, due to you taking medicine for the rest of your life. So, no, since there is nothing that you can take right now, except for condoms use good judgement and be careful. remember that herpes, even if there are no current sores, can still be passed on from one partner to the next, so be careful!! MedStudent Not yet, I beleive I read that it won't be available in the US for about 5 years. obgyncenteronline |
