Is it hard to find a partner in life after u are diagnosed with genital herpes? |
Is it hard to find a partner in life after u are diagnosed with genital herpes? No it isn't, at least not to find one who truly cares for you. I speak from personal experience. If you are honest and open, and that person truly loves/wants to be with you it won't matter. Even if it is a bit tougher if that person is worth it they will take you as is. I was very nervous about telling my current boyfriend (he was he first one after i was diagnosed with g/h) but he handled it fine. It is alot to take in at first, but we have a very happy & healthy relationship & an AMAZING sex life. Don't let this hold you back. It has actually made us closer that he accepted me & my condition. He is the love of my life. I wish you the best I had no problem, even casual dating. It was really funny, after I caught it I would tell guys I was on the daily dose of Valtrex, and it we used a condom chances would be VERY low... Most of the had had girlfriends or past lovers who had it, and one guy was actually "in the closet" about having it himself. Only 2 guys really had "issues" with it, but these were two who didn't want to use condoms anyway (which I had an issue with- I was NOT going to risk getting something WORSE like AIDS). After dating a few years, I met one guy who totally "stuck". He's awesome. When our relationship got long term/serious and we didn't want to use a condom anymore... ofcourse he had some ambivalence... but, after talking to a doctor and thinking deeply, he overcame that. I think that reaction from (men atleast) is really dependent on how you explain things to them. If you stick with the facts (and are on a suppressant like Valtrex), and make it pretty clear that you caught it from someone being dishonest with you- so you're being honest with them because you respect them... Most guys are pretty understanding (in my experience). |
