If I had a cold sore and gave my boyfriend head will he have genital herpes ? |
I had a coldsore on my lip that was dry and crusted but I don't know if it will still spread. It is VERY possible to spread herpes this way. Your best bet is to ask him to get tested. If he did get it you don't want him to pass it to you. If it is dry and crusted you should be fine but you should not be giving him oral sex without using a condom anyway. USE protection at all times when giving oral sex. If for some reason the sore was still active yes he could get herpes in the genital region. From now on use a condom and be safe at all times. its possible 1. HSV 1 can be spread from mouth to genitals. But it will be HSV 1 not HSV 2 which is gential warts. 2. If he has HSV 1 the likelyhood of them returning is based upon his body's reaction to getting outbreaks in the first place. There are ways of minimizing outbreaks including drugs like Valtrex, but also: 1. minimize stress- both from stressful situations and fatigue 2. take Lysine 3. avoid foods high in arginine Amino Acid Lysine 鈥?There is evidence that suggests that supplementing with the amino acid lysine may help control herpes outbreaks. In addition to supplementation with lysine, a diet low in arginine is recommended for patients that have recurrent outbreaks. There are some studies that suggest that arginine can actually contribute to more frequent outbreaks. Foods high in arginine, which should be avoided, include: * Gelatin * Chocolate * Carob * Oats * Whole-wheat * White flour * Soybeans * Wheat germ Foods high in lysine that help combat herpes include: * Fish * Chicken * Beef * Lamb * Milk * Cheese * Beans * Fruits * Vegetables http://www.globalherbalsupplies.com/herp... http://www.cfpc.ca/english/cfpc/programs... http://www.herpesonline.org/faq.html... http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/stdh... Responses from people such as "alice72" make me laugh. For starters where they claim that HSV2 is genital warts, please be advised that nothing could be further from the truth. HPV causes genital warts. It is the HumanPapilloma Virus. HSV2 is the Herpes Simplex Virus 2. HSV1 is the Herpes Simplex Virus 1. They share 50% of their DNA. Now in answer to your question: If your Cold Sore is caused by HSV1 and your boyfriends past Cold Sores are caused by HSV1, then it is extremely unlikely for your boyfriend to contract HSV1 genitally as he already should have antibodies for HSV1 protecting him against any new infections of it. However, if for instance your Cold Sores were caused by a strain of Herpes that your boyfriend didn't already have, for example: His coldsores are caused by HSV1 Your are caused by HSV2 and Vice Versa Then both of you are able to contract those strains on ANY body part, if you don't already have that strain of Herpes. |
