Type 1 Herpes genital?

Has anyone ever had this? I just found out that I have type 1 herpes to my genital area, its clearing up with the meds the doctor gave me. I've read online that this type usually doesn't recur, unlike the type 2 herpes. Has anyone been diagnosed with this before? If so, have you had any/a lot of recurrances of it?

I haven't had it but can give you a little information. I have heard that usually if you have HSV1 genitally you will have maybe 2 outbreaks and then never again. You need to tell your partners before you engage in intercourse but it would be helpful for the both of you if they got checked as well. About 80% of people have HSV1 orally and 25% has genital herpes. So there is a really good chance that he already would have it orally. If he has had cold sores in his life then he would be immune to catching it genitally. If this is the case then you wouldn't need any protection. If this person has never had cold sores then you should use condoms. Being that this isn't the favored body site of HSV1 the virus isn't shed that much and there is a low chance of spreading it but always er on the side of caution.

once you have contracted the herpes virus it doesn't go away. some people get reccurrences others don't.
but you need to be responsible with your sexual partners now by using protection all the time. and if you want an honest relationship you need to tell your partner.
just get some factual info of a proper website on this topic and don't believe everything you get told on here :)
Once you have the herpes virus, whether it's genital or oral (cold sores), it never goes away. Some people are more prone to breakouts then others. Just remember to use protection; you can spread the virus through regular sex and through oral sex even if there are no signs of a breakout. Good Luck to you.
Yes I was diagnosed with it a year ago. There is no cure unfortunately. If you ever want to talk about it send me a msg. I know it can be very upsetting..
