Are there any cures for glaucoma?

Or treatments that are really effective and that work?

Glaucoma is caused by extreme internal eye pressure, and such pressure can damage the optic nerve.
There are drops that can control this pressure, and yes, they are very effective and can greatly reduce the problems associated with pressure.
There is also a surgical procedure where they can install a valve on the eye to relieve this pressure.
From what I understand, once the optic nerve is damaged, there is little or no help.

Glaucoma cure.....don't think so.
It can be controlled by lowering the pressure. If there is a particular cause and you remove it, you may stop it.
If damage has been done, as you said, the optic nerve, you can't repair that.
