any help would be greatly appreciated! .... Glaucoma may be inherited in different ways, either autosomal dominant (AD) or autosomal recessive (AR). The risk of transmitting the disease to future generations is very different, ranging from close to zero to 50%. When only one person in the family is known to have pediatric glaucoma, it is difficult to know what type they have ....
http://www.pgcfa.org/med-news/med-news-0... there are multiple different classifications of glaucoma (primary, secondary) and multiple different types of glaucoma within each classification (open angle, closed angle, acute, chronic, pigmentary, pseudoexfoliative, etc etc etc)...so unfortunately the real answer is...it depends on which type of glaucoma you're talking about.
besides i suspect that even when talking about a single, very specific type of glaucoma that its more complicated genetically than a punnit square anyway. incomplete dominance, expression, etc. i dont think there is a black and white answer to this question |
