My eye doctor did a Glaucoma test (the air-puff) when I had my contacts in - does this effect the results?

The doctor told me to put my contacts in, then had me take the test. I didn't think this correct. Was he wrong to do this?

This will DEFINITELY affect the results. The material of the contact lens will have its own resistance to the force of the air puff. The instrument, therefore, will be reading the combined resistance of the cornea AND the contact lens which will make the reading falsely high.

when i go to the eye doc...they usually have me take mine out. so idk, next time ask.

Did they know that you had them in (I hope they did...scary thought huh)? I would assume that you had to have them out as is measures the pressure it pushes against to get the introcular pressure reading.

well yes it may affect the result. take them off the next time you neasure your IOP

sure it will affect the estimation , this whole thing should be repeated without the contacts .
