My father has glaucoma, so does his mother.?

does that mean i will get it? my eyes are really bad, everytime i go they get worse. i have a stigmatism in one eye. but not glaucoma so far. what does glaucoma do? cause u to be blind?

Glaucoma is high internal pressure of the eyes. You have a higher chance of getting it since your dad and grandmother have it. There are drops to put into your eyes that the eye doctor will prescribe if you get it. Just keep getting checked as often as doctor says to and he take care of you. I hope that you don't get it.

You need to get your eyes tested. In the UK anyone who has a family member with glaucoma gets a free eye test. If your pressure are high, you will be prescribed drops to reduce pressure to 14-16 (acceptable values) if they are too high (22+) optic nerve damage will occur and this leads to blindness. Glaucoma, if left untreated , will eventually steal your sight. It does not come back.
