Supplements for Glaucoma 鈥?has anyone tried this???

My brother is only 30 years old and he was recently diagnosed as open angle glaucoma. His eye pressure is still in the normal range. I have been looking for some dietary supplements for him.

After doing some research on the internet, all I found was this 鈥淩ebuild Your Vision Ocu-Plus Formula鈥? There are many web sites with different names but basically from the same guy selling this product. I couldn鈥檛 find any other information other than the one on his web sites. I don鈥檛 know how long it has been around and whether there are side effects. So, I am pretty hesitate buying it for my brother, because I don鈥檛 have any other information about the supplement other than those provided by on his own web sites.

Has anyone here tried this? Or, does any have any other recommendations on the supplements good for glaucoma? Thank you!

Well, there's a couple of issues with that. First, the Ocu-Guard/Ocu-Vite brand been on the market for some time and is made up of well established ingredients (although you can likely get a similar formula for a lower price without the name brand). The problem is that the most that the supplements can do is help give your eyes the nutrients they need to stay healthy... they can't specifically claim to reverse or cure Glaucoma. If you want to shop around for brands, you can go for any product from a good quality company that has Lutein, Bilberry, Zeaxanthin, Eyebright, and/or any of several antioxidants, as those are the main nutrients for eye health.
It's possible that these might help prevent the Glaucoma from getting worse, slow it down, or possibly help your body fight it... but a big part of that also depends on your brother's system (including his immune system). Good luck!

Coleus forte reduces the pressure in your eyes and this is good for the treatment of glaucoma.

Oldtimekid2 gave you a great
answer. There are many
supplement formulations (I
can think of bilberry as one)
that will feed the eye and make it stronger and healthier, but as far as curing any particular disease, I doubt it.
Glaucoma is caused by the
pressure in the eyeball being
too high. The reason it is
too high is that the fluid is
not draining out as it should.
I have had this problem for
quite some time. There are
eyedrops that will lower the
pressure, but it takes awhile
to find the right one.
The major problem with
glaucoma is that over time,
the high eye pressure will
begin to damage the optic nerve, plus there will be
peripheral vision loss.
There is one form of glaucoma where the eyesight
just leaves.
I personally would get the
best opthalmologist I could
afford and work closely with
him as this is usually a long
term treatment.
