What is the cause of Glaucoma? Is is genetic? What are the symptoms?

I think I might have it

not true about the over age 60 part it can affect anyone of any age

If you're over age 60, African-American, diabetic or have a family member with glaucoma, you are at higher risk for glaucoma than others.
Glaucoma is an f eye diseases in which the optic nerve at the back of the eye is slowly destroyed. In most people this damage is due to an increased pressure inside the eye - a result of blockage of the circulation of aqueous, or its drainage. In other patients the damage may be caused by poor blood supply to the vital optic nerve fibres, a weakness in the structure of the nerve, and/or a problem in the health of the nerve fibres themselves. Typically, medicine treat most forms of glaucoma with the same non-specific regimen of eyedrops, lasers and surgery. The treatment is not directed at correcting the optic nerve damage because it is not known how to treat the nerve directly.
There are usually no signs that you're developing glaucoma until vision loss occurs, which is why it's so important to have regular eye exams. Your eye doctor can diagnose and treat high IOP before it progresses to optic nerve damage and vision loss.
